Music Industry News - Music Trade Events (SXSW, MIDEM, CMJ, WOMEX etc)

The Going Global Music Summit, which took place in Auckland and Wellington this week, was a big success.

The seminars were well attended by musicians, the music industry and the media. Topics included expert insight into new online platforms such as Pandora and Spotify, effective social media promotion/marketing, the changing face of indie label A&R and insider insight into making music industry connections.

The international delegates included representatives from Matador Records, the BBC Radio One, French Kiss Records, Toolshed Digital Media Marketing, Parallel Management, Footstomp /BigSound and The Planetary Group.

At the music showcases the band performances were excellent and there was also a great turnout. The international delegates got a chance to see and hear some great local artists while mixing with IMNZ members and the local music industry.

Bands performing included Collapsing Cities, The Sami Sisters, Zowie, The Vietnam War, Ghost Wave, Bang Bang Eche!, The Stereo Bus, Seth Haapu, The Transistors, Computers Want Me Dead, Beastwars, Cairo Knife Fight, Glass Vaults, Iva Lamkum, The Eversons and Family Cactus

Thanks also to our partners in Going Global - The New Zealand Music Commission, The New Zealand Music Managers Forum as well as the Real New Zealand Festival.
