MTV will be closing it's New Zealand office in December and axing 23 of it's staff.

It will continue to broadcast in New Zealand but be fed out of Australia

Spokeswoman Polly Steven's said "The logical next step for us was to service one feed ... that covers Australia and New Zealand marketplaces. Like any business, this is about growth and doing the right thing for the organisation."

What this means for local independent content is as yet unknown.
