Local act Ruby Frost has been announced as a Grand Prize Winner of the international John Lennon Songwriting Competition (Session I).

Judges including Fergie, The Veronicas and Natasha Bedingfield voted her song ‘Hazy’ as the winner of the Session I Pop category; meaning she has won $5,000 in project studio equipment, gift certificates from MusiciansFriend.com, GHS strings, and a one-year subscription to a music mag of her choice.

Ruby Frost is one of 12 Grand Prize Winners (for the Children’s, Country, Electronic, Folk, Gospel, Hip Hop, Jazz Latin, Pop, R&B, Rock and World categories) for Session I. A further 12 winners will be announced from the Session II round in March next year.

From there, the 24 winners will compete to win the competition’s overall ‘Song of The Year’ award; which offers $20,000. Click here to see the comp’s winning entries.

Ruby Frost is currently in Brisbane performing at Big Sound Festival. Click here to keep updated with her on MySpace and Facebook.
