ANDY INGLIS – TOUR TALKS
Posted: January 26, 2016/Under: IMNZ Newsletters
Wednesday February 3rd 2016 – 1.00pm – 5.00pm
Studio One, 1 Ponsonby Road, Auckland – Room 10
Independent Music NZ is very proud to present an afternoon session with Andy Inglis this February 3rd at Studio One in Ponsonby.
Entry is free to all of our IMNZ members and any of your interested compatriots.
Andy is in town during the Laneway Festival with East India Youth, and we are delighted to welcome him to meet with our local industry and to talk about his experiences within the music industry over the last 26 years.
The topics for discussion are Tour Management, Venue Management and the International Festival Market – about which, Andy promises to deliver some serious insight into the structures of the live industry, the players and the (sometimes horrific) conditions, all mediated with humour, true stories, criticism and a captivating flow. The talk is accompanied by animated slides in a lively, engaging style (includes impassioned arm-waving, occasional profanity) and will encourage an atmosphere ripe for debate, discussion and input from those in the attendance.
If there are any particular questions you would like Andy to address, please email them through to email@example.com for collation before the session.
Did we mention the swearing?
There may quite likely be some swearing. And considered opinions, and debate.
About Andy Inglis:
Andy Inglis is an Artist Manager, Tour Manager, and Lecturer in the Live Music Industry. His career began in Scotland in 1990, DJing and running raves around the country. He started managing bands and small electronic labels. He moved to London in 1997, continued to manage bands, run small electronic labels, and became The Fly magazine’s Live and Regional Editor. In 2005 he co-founded The Luminaire which won London Venue of The Year and UK Venue of The Year in the first two years. He booked Quart – Norway’s biggest and oldest music festival – and spent two years travelling the world with Savages as their Tour Manager. He now does the same for Mercury Prize-nominated artist East India Youth on XL Recordings who he also manages. He would ban all guest lists, encores and cover versions, if it were up to him.
