IMNZ have introduced a new way for New Zealand and International companies to become directly involved in our community. Our new Friends of IMNZ scheme is a great way for companies that provide relevant services to the NZ music industry to gain direct contact with our members: The future of New Zealand Music.

IMNZ represent over 80 independent record labels and distributors and over 300 individual musical acts. We are constantly growing and we want to enable our friends to not only use this relationship to promote their services but also be a part of our community.

The two key scheme functions are:

1. To provide participating organisations access to our membership to promote their service(s); and
2. Encourage close association with the New Zealand independent music sector.

Benefits

In becoming a friend of IMNZ the key benefits are:

• Friend updates included in IMNZ’s weekly email distributions, including any new promotions and links.
• Free entry to our IMNZ seminars, functions and events
• Ability to organise workshops or seminars for members, or through IMNZ, invite our members to your existing events
• Specific promotion page on our website to include company profile, services, logo and links and information on your events. Including a featured monthly spot on the main page and our newsletters
• Receive regular emails on IMNZ initiatives, industry news and events

Examples of companies that may wish to become friends of IMNZ are Broadcasters, Music retailers and suppliers, Advertisers, Design, Packaging, Manufacturing, Legal, IT Companies, Accountants, Conferences, Festivals, Merchandise, Recording studios and TV/Film companies.

Set up at the end of 2001, Independent Music New Zealand was established to provide a voice for New Zealand independent recording labels and distributors.

Independent Music New Zealand started with about 15 member labels and we now have over 70 member labels and distributors whose artists include such diverse acts as the Black Seeds, Savage, Hollie Smith, Shapeshifter, Opshop, Fat Freddy’s Drop, SJD, Miriam Clancy, Minuit, Cobra Khan, Don McGlashan, Flight of the Conchords, Scribe and many more.

Internationally, Independent Music New Zealand are members of WIN – the Worldwide Independent Music Network.  This is made up of 27 member countries, with Board members from international labels such as Tommy Boy, Beggars Group, Cooking Vinyl, and K7.
