Welcome to the new Independent Music New Zealand newsletter and website...!

We've given the whole thing a bit of an overhaul.

Our intention is to make this a destination for news and information about all things to do with New Zealand (and some international) independent music news.

As usual our we will continue with Jagermeister Independent Charts, information about Friends of IMNZ, and general info about IMNZ and our members. There is still some work to be done but, but this is a start.

We will also be regularly updating the website with relevant local and international independent music industry news, interesting articles that will be useful to record labels and independently producing artists, as well as highlighting the activities of out independent label/distributor members and friends of IMNZ. These will all be fed through to our facebook page, twitter and added to our newsletter (sign up below).

Check out our new website here...

New Release Fanfare

Perfect Flaws is the debut album for NZ 4-piece Black River Drive; and while they might be a “new” group, each of its members – Sam Browne (vocals, guitar), Matt Stone (guitar), Mike Tan (drums) & Rusty McNaughton (bass) – have played over 1000 gigs in bars throughout NZ, learning rock & roll at the coalface, playing in bands for years. The band cite the likes of Metallica, Deftones, Helmet, Nine Inch Nails, Unkle, Fever Ray & of course Shihad and Weta as inspirational. Watch this space for more details on the release show and summer touring/festivals in 2011…

Atoll present a CD of the Inaugural Concert of the Klais Organ of the Auckland Town Hall. Around the World

Only two hours after the first Sydney Big Day Out sold out all 55,000 tickets, organisers have announced a second Sydney event taking place the day after on Thursday January 27.

The addition mirrors this year’s event which saw a second festival announced for only the second time in the event’s history. The first time happened in 2004 with Metallica headlining.

Tickets for the new show go on sale next Monday October 11. Read more...
